So Julianne has a birthday party to go to this weekend for one of her best friends. I decided to make her friend a "Lazy Girl Runaround Bag" with a matching wallet & tissue cover. I even sacrificed my new pink & brown skull fabric for the bag. Julianne went a bit bitchy on me.. "How could I do that to her! She wanted to BUY Sara a gift ie a webkins animal (and get one for herself!). She went on and on about how Sara already has purses (can a girl ever have too many?). Once she realized that I WAS going to give Sara this purse she said "Well are you going to put a gift card in it too?". HELL NO ~ unless you plan on using your money for it. The whole reason I did this was that Sara is always admiring Julianne's purses that I make her and says she wished her mom could do that too. I mean, it's not a cheap gift. I very rarely buy fabric from anywhere but quilt shops so we are talking $9.00 a yard at least.. plus there is the time that goes into it, etc.. I think it's a pretty darn good gift. It's girly pink and skulls that are very "in" right now. I think she'll really like it. Julianne was just being a royal pain in the ass about it.
Of course once it was done and Julianne knew I wasn't changing my mind about it, the first thing out of her mouth was "Can you make me one EXACTLY like it! Go Figure!
I also made this little bag It's called a Snap Happy bag. The closure is made my inserting a metal tape measurer. It has the little triangles to pull it open and then it snaps shut. I put some flavored teas in this one and it is on it's way to Missouri as part of a swap I participated in. Julianne also wants one (or ten) of these as well and has already started picking out fabrics for them.
I think a few of these might just end up as teachers gifts.. maybe put some Bath & Body products in them.
And one last picture.. this is what my kids like to do in the sewing room. Write on themselves with my chalk liner!

That is a great gift! She'll love it!
You are just way too crafty. I wish I had that talent.
About all I can sew is curtains and pillows, but... it's a start, right? ;)
That is a great bag! I'll bet she will love it. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. My DH used to live in that area, think he was on the bannana river. We have vacationed to Cocoa Beach a few times also. Almost moved down that way, but a good job opportunity opened up here (close to my family) instead. I'd send down the cooler weather... but I like it too much!
That's a great gift - you wonder what the kids are really angling for when they get all stubborn like that! hope her friend gets lots of use out of it.
Thought that was etching in their skin. I was going to be like OMG!! lol
Do you have anymore of that daisy fabric? I might have to get you to make my mom one of those little wallets like I got from you. She was saying how much she liked it. A purse to go with it would be a nice Christmas present :O)
Okay, at first I thought those were pin pricks so I am glad to find out that these are only chalk. My Sugarbaby writes on herself with permanent marker!!! Love the ensemble and I would rather make gifts than buy them too!!!! If she doesn't want it, I would be glad to take it off her hands!
I think it a lovely gift...one certainly will be appreciated. The bags are wonderful.
The purse gifts are far nicer than any gift card!!!!! Sorry Julz gave you a hard time. But it's funny that she changed her tune and wanted one too that just goes to show its a really nice gift! You do make the most gorgeous bags and purses!!!
Ha! Kids will be kids, I guess...
Hey, if you're not selling these things, you really should think about it! I know lots of people who would buy them. You could have your own website...
What do you think? :)
Very beautiful gift! I'd sure be honored to get it. Love the little bag tooooo.
Shoot! Wanted to say I love your area and especially Sebastian Beach although it's been 10 years since I've been to the other side. LOL
love those bags!
