An exercise in frustration

I taught a class at the local quilt shop today. There were 4 people signed up ~ one showed up. The good news is that 2 of the people that were supposed to come had already paid so I should get paid for them as well. I will be speaking to the owner on Thursday to verify that. I really don't think they should let people sign up for classes unless they pay because I've been screwed by that before. I guess in the end it was good I only had one student cause that one person occupied 100% of my time the entire 4 hours. This is the project we were doing DSC04784
There is no way this little placemat should take 4 hours! She had issues, her machine had issues, I guess I even had issues. We used the Bernina Circular attachment which, quite honestly I've only used once before and the shop owner had set up the machine for me before I even got there so my issues were in trying to remember how to set it up, which I was able to do fairly quickly. Next, the woman hadn't brought all the stuff on the supply list ~ and to be fair she had called the day before and whoever she talks to thought there was a kit so they didn't give her details. The student did, however, forget to bring the feet for her sewing machine. Next she had the wrong bobbin thread in and then proceeded to try to push and pull the fabric through the machine. I think her machine was having issues as well so I pulled a class machine for her, set it up and we finally got going. She was happy with it ~ said it would be an heirloom. I thought hers looked like crap but hey, if she's happy, I'm happy.
I ended up taking Julianne to the shop with me cause once again, she has strep but I'm happy to report she is feeling better tonight which is good cause I'll be going to Kennedy Space Center with Nate's class tomorrow.
I've added more stuff to the Etsy shop. They are chalk board placemats. DSC04792 I gave Julianne my prototype and she loved it. Tomorrow will be a big give away hosted by Sew Mama Sew so make sure you check back for that.
I'm also just a 15 hits away from the 10,000 mark for hits to my blog ~ YIPPEE! I'd like to do another give away just for that but I'd like to wait until after the Give Away Day Event.
Tonight I'm actually addressing my Christmas Cards so I can send them out starting this weekend. We did pictures for the cards on Thanksgiving which turned out pretty cute. Now all that's left is the annual letter. I'm sort of dreading it ~ just cause it'll bring up Angie's death all over again. But in the end, I have so much to be grateful for and that's what I'll focus on.

Cool chalkboard placemats. Sorry to hear about the class challenges -but like you say one on one probably was fortuitous!

As for the 4-hour placemat...it just goes to show you that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)

And I personally like the chalkboard placemats--they're awesome! :)

You don't know what "frustration" is until you try to teach ME to do that stuff! :) (Don't worry...I'm not taking it up anytime soon! Heehee!)

Re: Angie...these holidays are tough for all of us Barb. I barely made it through TG. I miss her so much.

Christmas box for the kids is coming together. I'm trying to get it in the mail tomorrow or Monday at the latest!
