I'm still in disbelief that my little man is 12 yrs old! I just can't believe it was 12 yrs ago that we got "the" phone call... that our birthmother was in labor and she wanted us to come to the hospital. You've never seen two people move so fast yet so chaotic. We took everything we could think of and threw it in the van and took off for the 4 hr trip to the hospital. Thank goodness for cell phones because along the way we called Jen (who was at her dad's in Fla). Made arrangements for her dad to get her on the next flight to Raleigh, NC. We called Alex and Paul who were down at Ft. Bragg where Paul was stationed. Made arrangements for them to pick Jen up and bring her to Hickory, NC. Called our friend Ann at the "Y" to give her the good news to share with our friends as well as numerous family members around the country. Received the call that Angie had given birth to a boy and I remember thinking, boy! What am I gonna do with a boy. Our family is known for having all girls. Of course now I can't imagine what I would do without him. He is part angel, part devil and 100% perfect!
Anyway... For his birthday this year he opted to take a few friends out for pizza and an evening at Andretti's ~ go carts, bumper boats, batting cages, putt putt golf and video games.
After that they all stayed the night. I'd say he had a sleep over but there really wasn't much sleeping to be done. About 9:00 I made them all scrambled eggs and toast, Richard brought doughnuts and then they all jumped in the pool till lunch.
After a lunch of grilled hot dogs and french fries they were thankfully all picked up by their parents and Nate was left happy & exhausted
Later that afternoon Jen & Jeremy arrived followed by Ginky (Richard's mom) the following morning. We went to breakfast at Nate's favorite diner and then home to open his presents. Mostly video games ~ topped off with Guitar Hero. Do ya think he's happy?
This too, was followed by an afternoon in the pool where Oscar decided he likes swimming while Nacho prefers to lounge on the float
All in all, a successful birthday!
Don't forget to check out the new bags at the Etsy shop and I've got a few more things coming soon...
