Today was really busy and really fun although I could have done without the end of the day... read on and you'll see why.
The day started off really well. Richard took the kids to see "Kung Fu Panda" which I had no interest in seeing although they said it really was very good. I got to stay home by myself (first time all summer) and sew! I've been wanting to make myself a baseball purse for a few months now and found the perfect baseball fabrics so that's what I did today..
Complete with a matching wonder wallet of course. I just love these bags, both to make and to carry. Once the kids and Richard got home it was time for a dip in the pool. 
Now this is the way to spend the 4th of July.. on a raft.. in the pool... with a cold Corona ~ and please don't comment on my hair. I KNOW I need to get it done.Next on the agenda was baseball and fireworks at the Manatee Stadium. Its a AAA league I believe, but I really enjoy watching them more than the professionals ~ maybe it's cause they really try harder plus I enjoy the smaller stadiums. The kids can hang out with their friends and I always know where they are. Today was "Lou Gehrig's Day" and the first ball was thrown out by a man named Ken Patterson
He has ALS and just came back from riding his wheelchair all the way to Washington DC. It was a good game and we won 4 -1 and the fireworks afterwards were really good. The weather was perfect. It had just rained beforehand so everything was nice and cool. Nathaniel ran into his friend, Nick, from our old neighborhood 
and Julianne's friend Tia from school was there also

who is a pretty good mascot although I miss Muddy the Mudcat who usually downed a few brews before each game and was known to mall the pretty women.Once we got home (we were all exhausted) and just after I washed up for bed I hear Nathaniel yelling from my bathroom that we HAVE TO get in there NOW! And this is what he found ~ in my sink ~ that I had just washed up in...
and yes, that is indeed a scorpion. A small one but still ~ EWE!!!! This is one insect that DH actually did kill instead of his usual capture and release plan. Hopefully he has no relatives lurking about. So like I said ~ Most of the day was really great...

That purse is too cute! I think that we have the same taste in office chairs, does yours squeak horribly too?
And the scorpion, ewww- normally we get a lot of them, this year we have only gotten a couple- thank God!!! I love that you mention that Richard has a catch & release plan that doesn't include scorpions. That is the basic rule around our house too- Randy got mad at me for vacuuming up a spider once!
Looks like a wonderful day right up until the scorpion... shudder shudder.
It was a good day but the scorpion would freak me out. We don't have those up north!
eeeeek!!! A scorpion! I guess that's one good thing about Iowa... No scorpions. No beaches either, and crappy winters, but hey... no scorpions.
I love the baseball purse. You are so creative!!
And relaxing in the pool with a beer? Nice way to pass the time.
OK, three things:
1) Ewww!! I hate scorpions and all kinds of creepy crawly critters! I've never seen a scorpion (having lived in the Midwest all my life) and never hope to see one. How do you even kill one? Does stepping on it suffice?
2) That purse is ADORABLE! You could totally sell those! I have a sister-in-law who would likely pay for unique, cute purses like that.
3) A day in the pool with a cold Corona...that sounds like my perfect day! *smiles*
