Last 2008 Christmas post

Still playing catch up here so we are going back in time (yes, again) to Christmas ~ last one for now, I promise. One of the things we did this year was an idea I stole from my bloggie friend Julie of Mom Taxie Julie who, by the way, has some amazing bookmarks she is selling on her blog right now. I've already ordered mine!
Anyway... Since the kids no longer believe in Santa (aww!) which is actually easier for me... we decided to put the presents under the tree as they are purchased and wrapped rather than having to hide them BUT since we didn't want them to mess with them we gave everyone code names and then didn't tell them who was who. We'll definitely do this again next year but for this year we gave them all potato names. We had Tater Tot, Sweet Potato, Hash Brown, Home Fries, Potato Spud, Potato Pancake and Curly Fries. They whined a bit but they did have fun trying to guess who was who.
Since we had opened gifts on the 24th we had Christmas day to completely goof off. We went to breakfast at Denny's which is apparently the only restaurant open on Christmas morning and then to the movies to see "Bedtime Stories" which was much better than I had anticipated. I guess when you go in with low expectations you sometimes get pleasantly surprised. It was really very cute.
After the movies we took a leisurely stroll around the outdoor shopping center here where we snuggled up with new friends DSC05084 Took a ride on an alligator DSC05082
Did some window shopping DSC05076 And apparently practiced for a future in pole dancing YIKES!!! DSC05075 DSC05071

Love the potato names! *grin* Iwanski's Dad used to have a numbering system with the presents--only he knew what number represented what person's gift. I love that idea! :)

You are too funny! I hope Jules picks another career. maybe you can steer her in another direction like telephone pole climber or tree service. LOl! Sounds like you had a nice Christmas!
