Last two stops on the shop hop (for now)

The last two stops for the day I almost didn't go to. It was a bit later in the afternoon than I had planned but I figured I still had a bit of time so I went for it.

The next shop was "My Quilt Shoppe" located in West Palm Beach, just off the Florida Turnpike.  It is very deceptive looking from the outside.  I thought, "oh, this is just a little shop, I'll be in and out in no time."  I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in.  The place is HUGE!    I'm still not sure where all the room came from.  It's like one of those magical places you see on movies where you walk into a little hut only from the inside it's the size of a football field.  That's just what I thought!

Really nice layout  ~ no clutter at all.   Lots of inspiration up on the walls and very nicely sectioned by fabric color and theme.  My favorite of course was the beach/ocean wall.  No new flamingo fabric that I don't already have though.  I did see some very cool surf board fabric but it didn't come home with me.  I was trying to be good.   They also have a very nice size classroom in the back of their store, all decorated for Christmas in July!

I did make a few purchases here.... just couldn't help myself!
I love the black and white martini fabric.  I'm going to have to think of something fabulous to make with it.

On the way to the next shop which was just about 5 miles down the road I saw this ~ and yes I waited till I was stopped at a red light to take the picture...  So many flamingos!  I just love it!

The next and last shop of the day was "Buttonwood Quilts" in GreenAcres, Fla.   And yes, I sang the dang theme song in my head once I saw where I was going.    It was a small shop but I managed to pick up a few things.   Very friendly service without being pushy.  Lots of little cute things to see.   These little fabric cupcake pincushions were all over the shop and just adorable.   They offer long arm service and have a dedicated room for their long arm machine as well as a really large classroom.  There was a woman there working on a t shirt quilt and chatting with the employee.   Seems very laid back which I like.
I was doing really well with not making purchases until I saw this hanging on the wall....   Now I'm not much into wearing aprons although I have made a few for friends, but ever since I saw all the lovely aprons that my friend Jill makes, I have started paying a bit more attention to them.  I managed to snag the last pattern for this one ~ I even had to climb up on a ladder to get it down... Picked up one of the fabrics for it as well.  Now to find something to go with it....

So here's my loot from this final shop.  Not too bad really... That hot pink "Quilt Diva" fabric will go nicely with a black and white stripe fabric I already have.  Not sure what I will make from it but I know it'll be cute!

I've got lots more adventures to write about from my trip but I'm waiting on a couple of pictures before I fill you in so stay tuned.....

It looks like you had a great time!! That martini fabric would be great with Pat Sloan's "It's 5:00 somewhere" wallhanging!

Barb,

I found your blog through a Google Alert.

I've been selling just flamingo fabrics online since 2000. Stop by and take a look - you might see some that you don't have.

Look forward to seeing your apron. I rarely wear one, but have patterns to make two! Just could not resist.

I thought I spotted and apron pattern there. I can't wait to see how it turns out! I've been sewing aprons all summer and loving it!
