A Complete Living Room

I have to say ~ I LOVE having stuff up on the walls ~ as does Richard ~ he just HATES hanging it.
So since we've gotten the new living room furniture in a color we weren't planning on, we took down the wall art we had put up previously and I've been looking for just the right thing to cover up that large blank wall.

I finally found it last month in the form of a very cool but unique poster. I had looked at a few that were very conservative but matched nicely and would have been pretty. Now those of you that know me would never use me and conservative in the same sentence.  I did consider it since I was going for a more adult look.  The upside to the conservative stuff was that there were a couple of pieces that would have gone nicely with each other but then I saw "the one." It was pefect.  Quirky and unique.  The only problem was that we needed more than one piece and I couldn't find anything to go with it.

I looked into more works by the same artist. Speaking of the artist. His name was Gustav Klimt and this piece was done in 1909.  I really like a lot of his work ~ although some of it is quite erotic.  This one piece, "The Tree of Life," had just the right colors for our living room.  His artwork sells for mega millions, so we settled for the poster! In any case, there wasn't another piece that we liked to go with it so I got creative. I bought two of the same size posters (24 x 36). The first one we framed as is. The second one I cut into two distinct pieces. Both 18 x 22. I think it turned out to be a great grouping.

So, for now, our living room is almost done.  I think I will get one more smaller tree and we need new lamp shades but it feels done for us.  Almost grown up ~ to have a proper living room (if you don't pay any attention to the blow up flamingo~ put there to keep the dog off the couch).

Richard likes to work on his laptop out there.   It's quieter (no TV) and still has a view of the patio and pool.   And you can still see partially into the kitchen and the family room so we can see what the kids are up to.
For me, it's a perfect place to sit and read or just relax.   Of course every time I try to go sit quietly, at least one or usually both kids decide it's time to come visit me ~ guess I'm never really off duty!
